Year R 2024 - 2025
Class Teachers - Mrs Lawton
Teaching Assistant - Miss Fitton
Welcome to Class R
We can't wait to welcome our new children into our class for the year and look forward to getting to know you all. We will focus in the first few days on helping the children to settle in, introducing routines and exploring our new classroom environment.
General information:
PE
PE will be on a Thursday. Children are to come into school dressed in their PE kits with suitable trainers. We have the flexibility to do PE in the hall or the school playground, however with the wonderful British weather, we will often use the hall. Due to children coming in their PE for the day, school pumps are not ideal as they will be wearing them outside at playtime and lunch.
Bookbags
Children are to bring their bookbag into school each day. This allows them to put any pictures they may have created at school into them to bring home. Once planners and books have been given, these will be kept in the bookbags, and brought in daily. Children will be read with throughout the week so may not always be on the same day. Planners allow parents a chance to write in any messages that need to be passed on the other teacher or any questions you need to ask.
Snacks
During afternoon playtime (2:00pm) children are invited to bring in a 'small' healthy snack. We have worked very hard for our healthy school status and ask for your help in maintaining this. Healthy snacks can be fruit, a cereal bar, crackers or something similar. Please do not send in crisps, sweets, chocolate or cake. Children are given fruit from school for morning break.
Lunches
Children have the choice of a hot school lunch or bringing a packed lunch from home. This does not have to be a set choice and you can choose yourself and change daily if needed. Children will be asked each morning if they are having a hot lunch or packed lunch from home. If a hot lunch is chosen, children get to make their lunch choice in the canteen, so that they can see the food first and pick what they would like. There is a salad bar available daily and staff will support the children in trying things off this if they wish.
Water bottles
We ask that water bottles come in daily please allowing children to have a drink whenever they may need. They can freely access these during busy time and break times. We ask that drinks bottles should have only water in them please and not juice.
We really appreciate your support with this.
